Fabulous Crazy Lace Agate pendant in sterling silver on a delicate silver chain.

With its full rainbow of colours and fantastic patterns, it is hard to tell which is the front on this wonderful Crazy Lace Agate! So, I opted for an open setting to show off both sides. This gemstone comes from Laguna in Mexico. Originally from a US gemstone collector who acquired it in the 1980s, it has an excellent cut and polish.

The delicate sterling silver chain is 20” (50cm) long and is adjustable to 16” (40cm) and 18” (45cm) lengths to give you maximum flexibility of wear.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, CRAZY LACE AGATE is known as the Laughter Stone or Happy Lace Agate. It is a type of Chalcedony, part of the Quartz family. Its fabulous patterns come in every colour of the rainbow. Agate has been used in ornaments since the Neolithic times (around 12,000 ago). Ancient Greeks and Egyptians incorporated Agate into healing amulets - it is thought that the Greek philosopher Theophrastus gave Agate its name because he found the stone in the Achates River, in the present day Sicily, now called River Dirillo). In crystal meanings, Crazy Lace Agate is thought to offer support and encouragement, elevating thoughts and promoting optimism. Agate is a birthstone for the Zodiac sign of Gemini (22 May to 21 June).
